1) Jane and Daphne each bought a certain number of ribbons from a shop. Jane gave 1/6 of her ribbons to Daphne. Then Daphne gave 2/5 of what she had back to Jane. Next, Jane counted all her ribbons and gave 1/4 of them to Daphne. In the end, Jane had 54 ribbons while Daphne had 51 ribbons. How many ribbons did each of them buy from the shop at first?
2) There were 50 more marbles in Box A than in Box B. 10 marbles were tranferred from Box B to Box A. Next, 14 marbles from Box C were then tranferred to Box A. Finally, Box A had thrice as many marbles as Box B.
(a) If Box B had twice as many marbles as Box C at first, how many marbles were in Box C at first?
(b) How many marbles were there altogether?
Super hard maths questions! Add the steps too!?
to the first one: should think it over backwards.
assume J3=54,D3=51 ("3" means the third step);then from the last step u can get:J2*3/4=54,D2+J2*1/4=51;so u can get:J2=72;D2=33;from the 2nd step:J1+D1*2/5=72,D1*3/5=33;so get:J1=50;D1=55;from the 1st step: J0*5/6=50;D0+J0*1/6=55;so get the final answer: J0=60 ,D0=45.
