I love the name Destiny since your got her for Valentines. That name will always remind you of the beautiful day when you first got her as a present

Have there ever been any successful spin-offs of a spin-off of a popular tv program?

For example, Cheers bred Frasier, and what if Niles and Daphne ended up on their own show and it turns out to well received.

Have there ever been any successful spin-offs of a spin-off of a popular tv program?
Good Times spun off from Maude, who spun from All in the Family.

Also Happy Days came from Love American Style, then Laverne %26amp; Shirley, and Mork %26amp; Mindy (and Joanie Loves Chachi) all came from Happy Days.
Reply:Maude~~~%26gt;All in the Family~~~~%26gt;The Jeffersons
Reply:YES!!

Mork and Mindy was a spin-off from Happy Days

So was Joanie Loves Chachi.

Also, I think Melrose Place spinned off from 90210

Then there was A different World that spun from the Cosby show that was pretty successful.
Reply:There have been a few:

Perfect Strangers bred Family Matters

All of the damn Law and Order shows, except Trial by Jury

I think All in the Family bred The Jeffersons(sorry if I'm wrong)

That's all I can think of right now

Now about Niles and Daphne, I don't think it would have been well received, because their characters aren't strong enough to hold their own, you know?
Reply:yes All in the Family started the Jefferson's Happy Days started Laverne and Shirley and also Mork and Mindy Soap started Benson Dallas started Knots Landing
Reply:How about Law and Order. It spun Law and Order Special Victims Unit, and Law and Order: Criminal Intent and all 3 are still on the air and all the cast members from each show have done episodes of all the shows
Reply:The Jeffersons, Maude, Good Times, Archie Bunker's Place Checking In, Gloria, 704 Hauser were all spinoffs of All in the Family

The Ropers from Three's Company

Flo spun off of Alice

The Andy Griffith Show spun off Gomer PYle USMC %26amp; Maryberry RFD

Petticoat Junction and Green Acres came from the Beverly Hillbillies.

NCSI is a spin off from JAG

There were several others as well
Reply:I can't think of a good spinoff at the moment but I know what the worst spinoff was---JOEY!!!
Reply:star trek ds9, enterprise, and next gen plus movies and books

Possible choices:

Pippy

Ginny

Lola

Flora

Maisy

Margie

Ginger

Tawny

Emmy

Lou

Nilla

Izzy

Midge

Ruby

Which name should I choose for my guinea pig?
midge or maisy

the first photo is sooooo cute :)
Reply:Lola, i think it is a cute name
Reply:Here.

Pippy, kind of to jumpy and wild for your kind of guinea pig.

Ginny, why the girl from Harry Potter?

Lola, sounds too much like aloha, is she THAT cheery?

Flora, it is more of a rabbit name.

Maisy, I think that's a mouse name.

Margie, no comment.

Ginger, THAT'S MY HAMSTER'S NAME! Please DON'T!

Tawny, sounds just a bit random no offense.

Emmy, that's OK I guess.

Lou, awww that's such a cute name!

Nilla, she isn't much of the color vanilla.

Izzy, it would be great if it is a boy.

Midge, sounds alot like midget, your pet is too cute for that.

Ruby, hmm... I say yes and no, just skip it.

Your pet is real cute, and my suggestions are Emmy and Lou, if you don't agree, go with Ruby beacuse that is just a maybe.
Reply:I know its not one of your names, but she looks like a "Molly" to me.

Love that beautiful long red hair! What a pretty little gal she is!
Reply:Ruby
Reply:Maisy!

Champagne at Ascot?

Hi Folks,

On the BBC TV coverage of Ascot @ 08.00 on Friday 22/6/07. Can anyone please tell me what the largest bottle of Champagne was called, what the capacity is %26amp; was it specially made?

Know it's a tall order,

Many thanks,

Daphne,

Jersey, C.I.

Champagne at Ascot?
The largest commopnly available format of Champagne bottle is called a Nebuchadnezzar and contains 15 litres (20 regular bottles) of liquid. A larger bottle called a Melchior is very rarely produced and New world producers, over the past century have competed to commission and name yet larger bottles. For info on these, try wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_bottle

The larger formats are named after biblical characters (wise men or kings). Just for reference purposes, I've outlined the bopttle names used in Champagne, Burgundy and Bordeaux for you below for all of the different bottle sizes:

Mini: Champagne - 200ml

Half-Bottle: 375ml

Bottle: 75cl

Magnum: 1.5 litres (2 bottles)

Marie-Jeanne (Bordeaux): 2.25 l (3 btls)

Double Magnum (Bordeaux) = Jeroboam (Champagne): 3 l (4 btls)

Jeroboam (Bordeaux) = Rehoboam (Champagne): 4.5 l (6 btls)

Imperial (Bordeaux) = Methuselah (Champagne): 6 l (8 btls)

Salmanazar (Champagne): 9 l (12 btls)

Balthazar (Champagne): 12 l (16 btls)

Nebuchadnezzar (Champagne): 15 l (20 btls)

Melchior Champagne): 18 l (24 btls)

I hope this helps.
Reply:It has to be a magnum
Reply:Jeroboam ,capacity 4 bottles.---3 litre

Methuselah, capacity 8 bottles--6 litre

Largest is then Balthazar, 16 bottles---12 litre

CHEERS...oooooooo...och......och !!

Best Answer from Sommelier below. He could decant a bottle

of Chateau Lafite for me any day!

Sorry answerer 4 , The biggest is a Murgatroyd 50litre (66 2/3 bots ) So Sommelier still wins !! See his ref : Wikipedia.
Reply:Sorry, can go bigger again. Drappier have a seldom seen Primat which comes in at 36 bottles/37litre!

Reply:I think you should think twice about some of these names (or at least their spelling). Remember that your daughter will have to live with her name for the rest of her life, so don't give her one that will go out of style next month or will be problematic for others to spell, etc.

I really like the name McKenna. Daphne is kind of nice, too. What about putting them together? Daphne McKenna or McKenna Daphne? I also like McKenna Rose.

Kaydence (which is actually spelled Cadence) is a word relating to music.

Melony reminds me too much of Baloney. How about spelling it Melanie? (If that's how it's supposed to be pronounced.)

Celeste reminds me of the night sky (as in, celestial).

Danica just reminds me of the race car driver with the same name.

Reply:Kaydence Lynn would sound really pretty Kaydence Dawn also. Melony Dawn would sound okay. It is hard choosing name trust me. I did not have my second son's name until 3 days before I had him. Sad yes but you just go with it. Daphne is a really pretty name. A middle name would also have to flow with the last name so I would have to do with Daphne Marie or Maria sounds really nice. Well you decide and if you need more help email me at rose_anna_ramirez@yahoo.com

Love the names.
Reply:I think all of them could go with Lynn
Reply:I like the different type of names. I think that a middle name should be something you pick. It should be something that you think your kid should be named. A name is personal. I think if I found out my mom and dad picked a name because others picked it I would be like they didn't care much to think of themselves. A name should mean something to you. It will come to you just think about it.

The Birds: Differences and Similarities Between the Movie and the Short Story?

What are the differences and similarities between Daphne Du Maurier's The Birds (short story) and Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (film)?

The Birds: Differences and Similarities Between the Movie and the Short Story?
In her story, the birds become hostile after a harsh winter with little food.

Daphne disliked the film and particularly disliked the translation of the setting from Cornwall, with its small fields and stone hedges, to small-town America.

Are there certain cartoon characters you kind of find, uhm...sexy?

I've always had a thing for Daphne from Scooby-Doo, and Raven from the Teen Titans.

Are there certain cartoon characters you kind of find, uhm...sexy?
Yes, Her Royal Hottness, Harley Quinn! Check out a link from Thighs wide open, the 50 hottest toons. While Jessica Rabbit is at the top of a lot of people’s lists, there are a disproportionate number of redheads there, including Daphne, Batgirl and Wilma Flintsone…!

As an Englishman, major respect to Johnny Depp for getting the accent perfect as Jack Sparrow...?

I find even the English can't sound English on American films or TV, like Helen Baxendale on Friends and Davy Jones out of the Monkees. I don't know about Daphne on Frazier, who I like a lot, but no way does she sound Mancunian (from Manchester). Maybe they all need the same vocal coaching as Johnny had?

As an Englishman, major respect to Johnny Depp for getting the accent perfect as Jack Sparrow...?
Depp is a serious immersion actor - he lived with Hunter S Thompson for some months before doing 'Fear and Loathing'. Other actors don't get as deep into their characters.

WWe Fantasy Smackdown results. Garfield betrayal aftermath plus big title match. What u think?

This is a reminder that thisis just for fun %26amp; in no way is it to bash wrestling or wrestling fans. Consider this as a version of celebrity deathmatch. We begin the show with Pokey Vs Speedy Gonzalez in a cruiserweight match. It was a good opener. Just as Speedy was going to win Kim Jongll-Hugo Chavez-Mike Tyson-Wwe Champ Garfield charged the ring %26amp; attacked both Pokey %26amp; Speedy with chairs destroying them. After laying them out Garfield grabs the mic. COOKIE! It's your fault this happened. U are the one that kept attacking me week after week accusing me of being a traitor. Well now I'm with Jong. Are u happy now? %26amp; guess what? Your ex girl Daphne is a great kisser. U want me Cookie? Im not that hard to find. After this we go to the next match as Samuri Jack vs Elmer Fudd. A good match. Jack had Fudd beat when Wwe Sd Champ Wiley Coyote distracted the Ref. As this was happening Tazmanian Devil hit Jack with a pipe knocking him out. Fudd pins Jack in a major upset. Brb part 2

Pater (father, nom. sing.) Peneus suam filiam amavit, et Daphnem (acc. sing.) felicem (happy) videre amavit.?

Pater (father, nom. sing.) Peneus suam filiam amavit, et Daphnem (acc. sing.) felicem (happy) videre amavit. Daphnem (acc.sing) in arborem (tree, acc. sing.) mutavit. Daphne (nom. sing.) nunc erat laurus (laurel, nom. sing.), et postea haec (this) arbor (tree, fem. nom. sing.) erat Apollini (dative, sacer is followed by the dative) sacra.

Pater (father, nom. sing.) Peneus suam filiam amavit, et Daphnem (acc. sing.) felicem (happy) videre amavit.?
"Peneus suam filiam amavit, et Daphnem (acc. sing.) felicem (happy) videre amavit."

Peneus (a proper name) is the subject of the sentence, and so he is the one who "Daphnem felicem amavit videre."

---

"Daphnem (acc.sing) in arborem (tree, acc. sing.) mutavit."

This sounds strange. Keep in mind that it's from Ovid's "Metamorphoses," which means "transformations." Daphne "in arborem mutavit" because she was trying to escape Apollo's persistent amorous advances. I mean, the guy just wouldn't take "no" for an answer!

---

"Daphne (nom. sing.) nunc erat laurus (laurel, nom. sing.), et postea haec (this) arbor (tree, fem. nom. sing.) erat Apollini (dative, sacer is followed by the dative) sacra."

Again, weird stuff. But it is a myth about gods and nymphs. "Postea" = afterwards. Try this word order:

"Postea, haec arbor erat sacra Apollini."

I don't know if that's what you wanted, you didn't say.

Why is it only some ancient names were chosen?

I asked a similar question some time back.

Some of the names used in Western societies are relatively recent developments. This could be due to the rise in Christianity. Names like Jacqueline, Catherine or Frederick came about only within the last thousand years. Tom, Dick and Harry are even more recent. Henry came from the Normans. Ophelia came from Shakespeare and Wendy came from Peter Pan.

Some other names are indeed names of antiquity. Diana was the Roman goddes of the moon. Penelope is Odysseus' wife, Anthony can be traced to Rome and Daphne id the Greek nymph pursued by Apollo. They existed long before Christ.

These ancient names have been adopted and used by the people of the Middle Ages and they lasted till present day.

Some other ancient names, however, had not been adopted and they have been relegated as part of history. Names such as Icarius (the name of of Penelope's father), Apollo (the name of the Roman Sun God), Mars (the Roman God of War) or Cassiopeia (a queen in

Why is it only some ancient names were chosen?
Fashion and linguistics.

When was the last time you heard of an Albert, Alfred? Very popular less than 75 years ago.

Fashion in names come and go, some of the Roman names mentioned above have been anglicised, for instance it would have been Antonius, not Anthony. You mention, Mars, isn't that the root of Martin? Cassiopeia the root of Cassie?

The likely name for Jesus's mother would be middle eastern Miriam, not the romanised "Maria" or the anglicised "Mary."

Look at the national variants of John - Ivan, Johann, Ian...

How do I start off?

There is a picture that shows a heart carved around couples, such as, Apollo and Daphne, Cupid and Psyche, Venus and Adonis, Pygmalion and Galatea, Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hero and Leander. But there is just a heart carved around Narcissus' name. I am supposed to explain the humor in this cartoon and I understand what it is, but I am having trouble starting my paragraph off. The humor is that Narcissus loves himself. Can you help me start off my paragraph and I'll do the rest?

How do I start off?
Try opening with a quote on love from a song or a play or novel. You can do a search on " quotes on love". Here is one from the Bible:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends- John 15 : 13. This implies a commitment to others and not our own self.

Good luck.
Reply:how about this:

How do I love me? Let me count the ways....
Reply:Two in a heart, two in a heart, two in a heart, one in a heart, two in a heart...

One in a heart?

I've heard of love being blind, but not being able to count either?

Oh, it's just Narcissus looking at the one he loves the most again - himself.
Reply:Not sure what this is for, but I kind of like starting it with sarcasm. So my input is "Ahh, what better love than love for one's self"
Reply:I like the beasts answer
Reply:Is this supposed to be a comparison and contrast? I don't find it funny that Narcissus loves himself, maybe ironic but not humorous at all...I understand the picture, but could you give more details on the assignment?
Reply:He stared at his reflection in the mirror. It was perfect in every way. He flexed his scrawny biceps, patted his beer gut and burped. He admired his comb over.

Heh, that bad enough?

Ideas for a baby girl. What do you think?

Genna Mae

Ava Nelle

Jenny Leah

Mina Lucia

Romy Ann

Daphne Dove

Ella Jo

Christa Belle

Emily Kay

Lili Eline

Ideas for a baby girl. What do you think?
Genna Mae - Genna seems incomplete and dated on its own. What about combing the dominant sounds here and using Gemma with a different middle name? ;)

Ava Nelle - Ava is lovely, despite popularity, and I love Nell(e) as a nickname, but "Ava Nelle" sounds suspiciously like a prescriptiion drug (not sure if it is, or if it's currently marketed, if so). I'd likely use Ava Eleanor, Ava Eloise or Ava Penelope, with Ava Nelle as a nickname.

Jenny Leah - I like Jenny even less than Genna. Just very dated and nicknamey. I'd use a formal version, personally.

Mina Lucia - both great names, but I'd avoid both Italian vibe -a endings together unless you are, in fact, seeking to honor Italian heritage.

Romy Ann - Romy I also find adorable as a nickname for Rosemary or Romilly, but not as a given name.

Daphne Dove - Daphne is gorgeous and underused, but I wouldn't pair it with a D word uncommonly used as a name. Daphne Dove sounds a bit like a cutesy pet form or one of those overly alliterative "adult" type names, if you catch my meaning. Daphne Ann, Lucia or even Mae would work better ... something not beginning with a D.

Ella Jo - again, Eleanor, Eloise, Penelope, Annabel or Arabella Josephine would be more my style. I much prefer giving the child a longer and/or formal option -- even if the nickname form will be used -- just so they have more choices as they mature.

Christa Belle - since Christabel is a fairly common name, "Christa Belle" just seems along the lines of "Emma Leigh" or "Abbi Gail" to me. Christa, Christine, Christina, Christabel, Christianne, Christian, Christopher and such were so popular a generation ago, however, that I'd avoid most of them for an infant.

Emily Kay - I prefer one of the other middle names with Emily (only because of the "leaky" sound here), but both are fine on their own, assuming you're comfortable with the most popular choice for a decade (or at least top five, if you're in the UK).

Lili Eline - far too repetitive for my taste, though Lily, Lilly, Lillian, Lilias or Lilith are all fine names (I don't care for the "Lili" spelling unless a nickname). I'm also not at all familiar with Eline -- though there is a company called E-Line ;) -- and would likely stick with Aline, Aileen, Eileen, etc. depending on what pronunciation and origin you're going for here.

Hope that helps.
Reply:They're all cute names. I personally like Emily Kay.

Just a side comment...Christa Belle made me chuckle when I saw it. My name's Christabel. I guess it's just strange for me to see it as speparate names.
Reply:sort of weird pairings for me and quite short blunt names which would work if you have a really long last name, however I love Genna (or spelt Jenna) but not Mae. maybe Genna Isabelle to balance it out.

Ella, Christa and Leah are also nice names but I would go with

Ella Joanne

Christa Isabelle

Leah Isabelle

best of luck
Reply:I like Ava Nelle and Christa Belle
Reply:I like Emily Kay and Genna Mae.

If I mixed and matched...

Emily Mae

Romy Ella

Other suggestions are:

Tahlia Eden

Kayla Daphne

Alyssia Mae

Sierra Tahlia

Antigua Lily

Gracelyn Emily

Kaelyn Lucia

Ashanti Ava
Reply:Jenny leah

and i like Emily Elizabeth

xx
Reply:I would use:

Ava

Romy

Daphne

But not with the middle names you've picked.

I think Ella, Emily and Christa are fine names - just not ones I like.

I would *love* Mina if it was spelled Minna. (With one n, I wonder if this sounds like Meena.)

Lili would be okay if it was Lily. The "i" makes it look quite flimsy. If you want to use Lili, I'd name her Lilia or Lilian and use it as a nickname.

Genna is, I think, a little dated, even with the G instead of J. Gemma is fabulous.

Similarly, Jenny is dated. Genevieve is a fresher alternative.

I also love one of your middle names - Lucia. It would be a great given name, too.
Reply:Genna Mae is alright. Try spelling it Jenna May.

Ava Nelle is pretty, I guess. Try Ava Noelle.

Jenny Leah is okay. It doesn't sound like a full name.

I like Christa Belle and Emily Kay.

Try spelling Lili 'Lily'.

I called my daughter Tiarni May. Different I think Good luck with a name.
Reply:Ava Nelle
Reply:Jenny Leah

Emily Kate ( not Kay)
Reply:Genna Mae - Cute.

Ava Nelle - Very nice.

Jenny Leah - Doesn't seem complete for some reason.

Mina Lucia - Cute. Makes me think of Mina Harker and Lucy Westenra from Dracula, and I don't know why.

Romy Ann - Pretty cute.

Daphne Dove - Sounds sort of like a cartoon character.

Ella Jo - Sounds pretty country-ish

Christa Belle - Very Nice

Emily Kay - Very Cute.

Lili Eline - Sounds like a rapper.

Sorry, I know I sound really blunt, and I don't mean to.
Reply:I like:

Romy Ann

Daphne (would use a different middle name)

Christa Belle
Reply:I love Genna Mae - it sounds unique!

But Ella Jo, Christa Belle (I think putting em together as Christabel would be better ha-ha), and Emily Kay just don't seem to be right.
Reply:christa bella is the best emily kay, lili eline and daphne dove are also nice!!!
Reply:Ava Nelle... makes me think of classic beauties like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Hope that helps!
Reply:Jenny- way to common

romy - no

mina- noo but cute middle name

daphne - sounds like a queen of england name!

Ella- is cute but what about Ellie * thats my name =]*

Christa- is cutee and belle is also very cute

Emily - way to common
Reply:Ava Nelle sounds original yet elegant.Go for it!
Reply:I really like the name Ella, but I'm not so sure about Jo being paired with that...it sounds a little "old" and "southern".

If I had to pick a name and middle name that I like the best, I would go with Genna Mae.

I love all these first names=)
Reply:Jenny leah and Christa Belle are the only ones out of your list that really seem to flow for me.
Reply:I really like Ava Nelle, It hs a great ring to it

For you couples dressing up for halloween this year, what are you and your other going to be?
Dressing up as Fred and Daphne for Halloween sounds great for Halloween, but what would be more fun it that you dress-up as Fred and have your husband dress-up as Daphne. I've found that switching roles has always been more fun on Halloween.

Who actually owns Scooby - Doo...?

I really want to know, is it Shaggy or Daphne?

Who actually owns Scooby - Doo...?
Actually, William Hanna was once asked this question and his answer was "Velma". Surprised?

Freddie was there for the same reason Stephanie Zimbliest hired Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) to lend "credibility" to the investigative firm.

Would you even today hire a female investigator over a male?

In a "dangerous" situation?

REALLY?

Shaggy was there because who pays close attention to the goof-up?

Goof -ups are able to sneak around and not draw attention.

Look at many plots of the Three Stooges!

Remember, it takes a lot of genius to universally convince others you're incompetent.

If you doubt this, look at Barney Fife from Andy Griffith - Barney was related to Andy (that's how he got hired,if you didn't know).

Do you really think Don Knotts, Carol Burnett, or any other "classic" comedian was successful just based on good scripts and exact timing?

Another example: Red Skelton yes this was YEARS ago, but in every character from Sheriff Dead-Eye, Clem Kiddlehopper, The Loveable Old Tramp - audiences saw that underneath this foolish old sot was a sweet old soul.

They fell in love with that, and for you not old enough to have seen him you have no idea how much you have never learned.

Scooby was of course the mascot

Daphne was not only the perpetual heroine to be "rescued" but gave off a certain charm or overt sexuality, depending how old you were which drew people (mainly men) like moths to a flame.

Now the legal stuff:

Hanna Barbara was "acquired" by Warner Brothers who did all they could (personal opinion) to allow the genius to slowly die and wither away.

Any other questions?
Reply:i think velma
Reply:Shaggy owns Scooby of course. They r pals and they r always together.
Reply:shaggy
Reply:I dont think anyone actually owns Scooby. Scooby is Shaggy's best friend but I dont think that is a traditional dog and master relationship. Scooby is more like one of the gang.
Reply:Shaggy of course

Whatdoes Dafne mean?

not Daphne but Dafne!?!?!?!?!

Whatdoes Dafne mean?
Dafne is the earliest known work that, by modern standards, could be considered an opera.

The story of Apollo falling in love with the eponymous nymph, Jacopo Peri wrote Dafne for an elite circle of humanists in Florence, the Florentine Camerata, between 1594 and 1597. It was probably first performed in either 1597 or 1598.

An attempt to revive Greek mythology, Peri's work has been lost, despite its popularity and fame in Europe at the time of its publishing.

The libretto for Dafne was written by Ottavio Rinuccini.

Why do some songs have a long period of nothing after the song is over?

kinda random.

but does anyone know why at the end of some songs, there is a long period of time that is just blank, no sound.

examples:

What Have We Been Waiting For? by Daphne Loves Derby and Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Why do some songs have a long period of nothing after the song is over?
Part of the reason might be because the music is fading out very slowly, but the recording technology doesn't pick up the faint sounds. Try turning the music up when the music fades out. Or maybe, like when a film is submitted to a contest, there has to be 30 seconds of nothing before and after the film and the remaining blank part is the 30 seconds of silence that was not edited out.

WARNING%26lt; WARNING This question has been asked by teachers for years. And If you go to e notes and just copy something down, you are going to get caught. Teachers have seen all the answers students have copied. They delight in red penciling your copied answers.

It is a short story, not hard to read, so read it,then compare it to the birds the movie. In your own words, maybe not so polished as if you copied it, but you will at least get credit for your own work, and you will not get your homeword thrown out because it from someone else.

Both stories have all kinds of birds congregating together, to attack people. the first story by Daphne du Maurier has a man and wife and their child, and all are attacked by all kinds of birds. And The movie The birds is about different characters, A man goes into a shop to buy a present for his sister, and mistakes a woman shopping as a salesclerk, he asks her to help him and she pretends to sell him lovebirds. He takes them home with him. Apparently this sets the birds in motion. Now read the first story by Daphne Du Maurier, and tell about the location of the fireplace in the room. etc.
Reply:nope
Reply:I do not know
Reply:No I haven't, and I seriously doubt you'll find many people here who have. I only know the movie (a great movie; watch it if you haven't already) not the story, though I have read stuff by du Maurier.

To write a comparison study includes two words: compare and contrast.

I suggest you get a sheet of paper and a pen and write in two columns elements involved in each work. For example: birds. That is most likely in both, so draw a line connecting them. Then crows, children running, fire, trapped, escape, ravaged town and on like that. When you see something that matches in both works, draw a line to connect them. When you see something original in only one piece, number it.

Then go back and see what can be compared (either favorably or not, depending on presentation), and then see what can be 'contrasted,' or shown to be one-of-a-kind in these works (either favorably or not, depending on presentation).

If you need more help before actually writing your essay, write an outline of the facts you have discovered in the two columns. Be sure to have a beginning, middle and end to your essay. And don't worry... you can do it! Luck.

Declaration to All Americans?

To the citizens of the United States of America, in the light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today.

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories.

Except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new Prime Minister (The Right Honourable Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a Minister for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded.

A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up "aluminium." Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it.

The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour'; skipping the letter 'U' is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters.

You will end your love affair with the letter 'Z' (pronounced 'zed' not 'zee') and the suffix "ize" will be replaced by the suffix "ise."

You will learn that the suffix 'burgh' is pronounced 'burra' e.g. Edinburgh. You are welcome to re-spell Pittsburgh as 'Pittsberg' if you can't cope with correct pronunciation.

Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up “vocabulary." Using the same thirty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "uhh", "like", and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication.

Look up "interspersed."

There will be no more 'bleeps' in the Jerry Springer show. If you're not old

enough to cope with bad language then you shouldn't have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary, then you won't have to use bad language as often.

2. There is no such thing as "US English." We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of "-ize."

3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. English accents are not limited to cockney, upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier).

You will also have to learn how to understand regional accents --- Scottish dramas such as "Taggart" will no longer be broadcast with subtitles.

While we're talking about regions, you must learn that there is no such place as Devonshire in England. The name of the county is "Devon." If you persist in calling it Devonshire, all American States will become "shires" e.g. Texasshire, Floridashire, Louisianashire.

4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys. Hollywood will be required to cast English actors to play English characters.

British sit-coms such as "Men Behaving Badly" or "Red Dwarf" will not be re-cast and watered down for a wishy-washy American audience who can't cope with the humour of occasional political incorrectness.

5. You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen", but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

6. You should stop playing American "football." There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American "football" is not a very good game.

The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays "American" football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football.

Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American "football", but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies).

We are hoping to get together at least a US Rugby sevens side by 2005.

You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls' game called "rounders," which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs.

7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called "Indecisive Day."

9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap, and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean.

All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call 'French fries' are not real chips. Fries aren't even French, they are Belgian though 97.85% of you (including the guy who discovered fries while in Europe) are not aware of a country called Belgium. Those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called "crisps." Real chips are thick cut and fried in animal fat. The traditional accompaniment to chips is beer which should be served warm and flat.

Waitresses will be trained to be more aggressive with customers.

11. As a sign of penance 5 grams of sea salt per cup will be added to all tea made within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this quantity to be doubled for tea made within the city of Boston itself.

12. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling "beer" is not actually beer at all, it is lager . From November 1st only proper British Bitter will be referred to as "beer," and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as "Lager." The substances formerly known as "American Beer" will henceforth be referred to as "Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine," with the exception of the product of the American Budweiser company whose product will be referred to as "Weak Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine." This will allow true Budweiser (as manufactured for the last 1000 years in the Czech Republic) to be sold without risk of confusion.

13. From November 10th the UK will harmonise petrol (or "gasoline," as you will be permitted to keep calling it until April 1st 2005) prices with the former USA. The UK will harmonise its prices to those of the former USA and the Former USA will, in return, adopt UK petrol prices (roughly $6/US gallon -- get used to it).

14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by

adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

15. Please tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us crazy.

16. Tax collectors from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all revenues due (backdated to 1776).

Thank you for your co-operation.

Declaration to All Americans?

Essay Outline!?
Well I havent taken an english class in over 3 years, but from what I remember and outline is just help you get your general ideas started.

I would start with my opening sentence. Figure out what you want your introduction to be about.

Since you are doing a comparative essay make part of your body about how they differ, then another part about how they contrast eachother and then maybe a part about why their differences and similarities relate to eachother and why they are important to the story line etc...

So With the outline just take the basic ideas, find the quotes you will use to back up your ideas.

So it should go

1st paragraph- Introduction

Body

2nd paragraph give your ideas why the books are similar State and idea and then proof from books to back up

3rd Paragraph give ideas why the books are different. State idea and then proof from book to back it up

4th paragraph State why the differences or similarities are important to each book and their storyline(or you can make this about whatever)

*you can have as many body paragraphs as you would like, I am just going by the basic 5 paragraph format, not sure what grade you are in

5 paragraph Conclusion, for example why the differences and similarities were important or unimportant and what you think about the books

SO the outline is just to help you get the idea process started, and help when writing your actual essay

Ex

Inro- Opening sentence or Main Idea

Body- MAin differences

Main Similarities

Pull quotes from book and site to back up ideas

Conclusion- State main idea again and then a few sentences to close out essay

Looking for new music?

I want bands like Minus The Bear or Reggie And The Full Effect, or indie rock/pop stuff like Death Cab or Daphne Loves Derby. I prefer male vocals, and I don't care if it's mainstream or unknown, as long as it's good, but chances are that if they're mainstream, I've already heard of them. THANKS =]

Looking for new music?
I really love Test your Reflex. My favorite song by them would have to be Pieces of the Sun. Backseat Goobye is really good too. Just a guy and his acoustic guitar. My favorites by him are Sidewalk Sing Along and Technicolor Eyes. I also love the song Apologies by Dropping Daylight. The song Hope dies last by Holiday parade is pretty good too. Sorry I'm not just naming bands. A lot of the bands i listen too i only like a few of their songs, so I don't want to just name bands and have you think they're total crap haha. The song Roses and Butterflies by Making April is good too along with The War by Melee. My favorite song for a while has been The Town That You Live by Sherwood. I hope this helped and you decide to check some of these out!

I need help writing a lit criticism paper...do u know any legit websites?
if your interested, i may be able to help you understand different branches of literary criticism even though i haven't read these. right off the top of my head, i know there is social criticism (what do the works say about social problems, i.e., do they address poverty, types of government.) i know in rebecca, she goes from a rather meager social class to being mistress of a mansion. there's historic criticism. also gender criticism. i subcatagory of gender criticism would be feminist criticism. how would a modern woman today look at the works? i know in rebecca, the protagonist isn't even named. what does this say about her as a women? her role? she is very docile; you can use this. in rebecca, there seem to be two types of women presented: the good woman, who is chaste, submissive, bearing the unpleasant burden, and rebecca, who was wicked, independent, promiscuous. just one way you could go with that. (i've seen the hitchcock movie). if you like, i can look it up. i'm pretty sure i have a book that lists more forms of criticism. oh, there's psychologic criticism too. feel free to email me.
Reply:Try sparknotes.com and search for the titles. They may have some insights that can get you started. Otherwise, Google the title. "literary criticism" is not really so bad as the name sounds, and really any analysis of the books falls under these categories.
Reply:do you mean that you lit it on fire and then write on it?how can you do that?

Who is Scooby?

In the movie, Scooby Doo, Freddie Prinze acted as Fred,

Sarah Gellar acted as Daphne, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy and veteran Linda Cardellini as Velma.

Who acted as Scooby? How did they put the Scooby costume onto the actor for him to act like a dog?

Who is Scooby?
Scooby Was Computer Animated There Really Wasn't A Dog There
Reply:There was no actual actor for the part of Scooby. It was a computer animated character. An actor did his voice, but not sure who it was.
Reply:They didn't. Scooby was computer generated, just as Rocky %26amp; Bullwinkle were in their movie (and most of the soldiers in The 300, and most of the people falling off the sinking Titanic in that movie)
Reply:love the cartoon!

movies were...OK i guess

scooby dooby doooooooooo!

i cannot help you though :)
Reply:im pretty sure scooby and scrappy were done on the computer and are animated characters...now the voice i dont know.
Reply:they used animation to make scooby doo doi!
Reply:Neil Fanning did the voice, the character was CGI
Reply:The dog that you see in the movie is a computer generated graphic. The dog was voiced by Neil Fanning who was not the original voice in the cartoon series. That person, Don Messick, died in 1997.
Reply:Scooby was computer generated with Neil Fanning providing the voice. Scrappy Doo was voiced by Scott Innes whilst Scrappy Rex was voiced by J.P. Manoux who's currently guest starring in E.R. as Dr Crenshaw.

Hope this helps.

Reply:dear daphne I am new to this whole world of yahoo groups but I saw your question and felt the need to answer you. I am a mother of three that has also tried a whole bunch of at home jobs. I always ended up just waisting money and time. I don't know about data entry, though I have looked into it a few times. I finally found an at home job that allows me to work from home and spend time with my children, and best of all not spend money on childcare. It's called monavie and it's a wellness drink. I drink it myself and have had a remarkable increase in energy. I don't know if this is something you would like to look into. I have to admit that it takes some effort but the benefits finacially are really worth it. I was shocked the first time I was paid because I really thought that it would be another one of those lame jobs that got you nowhere. But each week my paycheck goes up and so does my self esteem. I don't want you thinking that I am trying to sell you on this. Just take a look and see what you think www.mymonavie.com/Rohloff maybe it could help you to.

Reply:Absolutely! Market America is a 15 year-old company, that has had double digit growth every quarter since 1992. It's not based on a multi-level compensation plan and it is designed so that average people can begin working part-time and while learning about the business can develop a six-figure income in a 2 to 3 year period. The training is great and start up cost are low.

Reply:Hi Daphne!

I have a home business with Tupperware that allows me to build my business on my own schedule and how I want to.

We are not just home parties anymore and there are many ways to build a business and earn an income while having fun.

Tupperware has been around for many years and has a great reputation! We are known for our loyalty to the quality of our products, to our customer service and to our consultants as well!

I lost my job last Oct and I have replaced my past full-time income with my Tupperware business. I am also earning a car bonus and less than 3 months from earning my first free trip to Hawaii!

My self confidence has grown and I have made so many wonderful new friends on my team. I love what I do now and enjoy helping others find what I have found in Tupperware!

If you are interested in learning more about this great opportunity, please email me and I would be happy to chat with you!

Be Blessed!

Reply:Hi Daphne,

I don't know about the data entry home jobs, but I imagine it's like a lot of things. If you can find someone to give you enough work to do and pay you a fair rate for your work, then good luck.

I've found that MLM is a great way to earn some extra money from home in my spare time, but - as with anything worthwhile, it requires you to either know what you're doing, or find a mentor who does know and who can teach you how to achieve your goals.

I've helped others to learn how to be successful, and there are thousands of others out there in all sorts of businesses that would be willing to help you too.
Reply:If you are an accomplished typist - word processor and have recently visited your local city college or university librarian, you can apply as a "certified" graduate typist, earning between $1.50 to $2.00 per page for a master or doctoral thesis. The librarian will provide you with a sample of the typing template (i.e., margin settings, font selection, page set up, etc.) in order to complete these projects. An average weekend income is about $300-$400 for two days work.

Good luck!
Reply:Hi Daphne,

I too searced for a long time to see if there was a way I could work from home with data entry or as a medical billing specialist. A friend cam to me and asked me to listen to her for a few minutes about a buisness she was in. I really didn't want to do it at first, but I am so glad that I did. The business is called Two Sisters Gourmet. . I have been so amazed by the opportunities that this business has provided. I can work as much or as little as I want to and there are no penalties or inventory that I have to keep. And the best part is, is that the food is so easy to sell, everyone loves food! I also work as a Mystery Shopping Scheduler and this is the perfect thing for me to do to earn that extra money for my family to do all the things that we wish we could do.

The concept of Two Sisters Gourmet is totally new and is one of very few direct selling companies to have an interactive party experience. The guests actually break off into groups and cook different recipes to create a fabulous meal for everyone attending the party. It is so much fun and the food is delicious. Just one taste of their Beer Bread will leave you craving more.

TSG has some really awesome offers for their consultants like a 25% discount, 25% base commission, $100 BONUS for each new consultant sponsored, Free host rewards (no money out of your pocket), No inventory, and on-line ordering.

I just received my off the block success kit and just for having a $300 show in my first 30 days I received a bunch of free products, tote bag, and note cards. TSG also offers 5% business credit for every show that I have and I can use that money to order more products so there is no money coming out of my pocket.

I just returned from three fun filled days in Chicago for a Two Sisters Gourmet Conference and I can’t believe how amazing this company is, rewards, rewards, rewards. You will not be disappointed or find any negative information about this company (just research it) I have earned a lot of self-esteem starting this myself and proving that I can do it. The people that I have met are the most enthusiastic, empowered women. Check it out if you are interested at www.twosistersgourmet.net/web/jbariteau
