Is the atheist doctrine evil or just misguided?
We have no doctrine.
Reply:Leave them alone. Do they try %26amp; force you not to believe???? I can't blame atheists for the hatred they have toward overly religious people.
Reply:I don't think anyone bothered to read your link. Very nice...I have bookmarked that page. Thanks. :)
Reply:Shoot! there is atheist doctrine?? Why didn't you guys tell me?
Reply:And by "evil" you mean intelligent, and by "misguided" you mean self-reliant, right?
Reply:What doctrine?
Reply:We're not evil, or misguided, and we have no "doctrine".
Reply:what evil doctrine? (never knew that there was even a doctrine??) where is the misguidance?
Reply:Neither. An atheist "doctrine" does not exist. Atheism is just a truth in itself. There is no need to teach or explain it, just to accept it by those who wish to.
Reply:Atheism has no doctrine.
I can't understand how anyone with a shred of compassion or intelligence would see caring about their fellow humans more than a mythological being as being "evil or misguided".
Yup, thumbs down for caring about my fellow man. A lot of you self-hating theists out there huh?
Reply:Nope. Neither. Even if atheism was a doctrine by popular definition, still nope.
Reply:There is no 'atheist doctrine'.
An absence of belief in god is not a doctrine.
Reply:That is one person's credo, not a doctrine. You're not much into reading, are you? You might have gotten past the title"The Atheist Philosophy" and read the subtitle "This is a collection of short statements and essays that sums up my perspective of the Universe." It may seem like a lot, but reading beyond the first three words helps.
Reply:We have a doctorine??
Reply:There is no doctrine. You invent a fairytale, we disagree with the 'truth' in your fairytale. That's basically it.
Reply:or perhaps neither??? have you not taken that into consideration???
misguided?- no, because most atheists have taken ALOT of thought into our beliefs i have. we are skeptical, thats why we are atheists and agnostics.
evil?- no. why would we be evil. the christian religion is more evil than us because of the way the push and shove people to believe what they think is the only right thing. they want to leave woman with no choice about their bodies and their future. they give no gay people the option to love who they love. they follow a book that no one know exactly who wrote because it was written so long ago.
although, i DO respect you religion, i feel that if you want to do good get out their and give people their rights and their privacy back. just because the bible says that it is bad for gays to marry doesnt mean that you have to ruin their lives. also, the bible says that incest is bad(which of course it is) but then think back to adam and eve, and if they really exist. when adam and eve had children and when the children grew up, who would THEY have kids with??? INCEST.
thank you for your time.
Reply:Atheism doesn't have any doctrines. Atheism is simply the disbelief in any deities. Next time try some reliable sources instead of your biased Christian sites.
Atheism entails, minimally, the absence of belief[1] in the existence of a deity or deities.[2] It is contrasted with theism, the belief in one or more gods. Atheism is commonly defined as the positive belief that deities do not exist, or as the deliberate rejection of theism.[3] However, others define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[4] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics, and people who have never heard of gods, such as newborn children, as atheists as well.[5] In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief (strong atheism) or the mere absence of belief (weak atheism).[6]
Many self-described atheists share common skeptical concerns regarding supernatural claims, citing a lack of empirical evidence for the existence of deities. Other rationales for atheism range from the philosophical to the social to the historical. Although atheists tend toward secular philosophies such as humanism, rationalism, and naturalism, there is no one ideology or set of behaviors that all atheists adhere to.[7]
In Western culture, atheists are frequently assumed to be irreligious or non-spiritual.[8] However, some religious and spiritual beliefs, such as several forms of Buddhism, have been described by outside observers as conforming to the broader, negative definition of atheism due to their lack of any participating deities.[9][10] Atheism is also sometimes equated with antitheism (opposition to theism) or antireligion (opposition to religion), although many atheists do not hold such views.
Reply:The Catholic religion is evil and certainly not misguided. They know what they are doing. Hiding priests who molest altar boys and doing nothing at all to stop it. Plus the Catholic religion is the biggest and richest tax exempt Corporation in the world.
Reply:Neither just guided by evil.
