Help, Essay Outline?

I am writing an compare and contrast essay, about two books:

1. The Hobbit By J. R. R. Tolkien %26amp;

2. Rebecca By Daphne Du Maurier



I need to write a detailed outline of the essay and I don't know how to structure the paper. Can anyone give me examples of topics that will fit good in my essay outline? How do I construct my essay outline??

However, if you didn't get any, here is a site which breaks down four different ways to structure your essay. Read over each one and see which one seems the most logical and detailed to you.

And don't dwell on the obvious. (One is about non humans and one is not.) Think about how the two are similar .... and different in important ways. What are the themes the authors are presenting? How is the structure of the novels similar and different? What makes each unique? Try to go deep and find good examples of what you mean.



Don't get too locked into your outline at first. Just brainstorm and think about what you could prove. Then see how the different ideas overlap and combine where possible. From your brainstorming list, make a thesis you can prove. (Last sentence of first paragraph and (changed somewhat) first sentence of last paragraph.)



Make sure you refer to the author and title of each novel in the intro paragraph and write in literary present (Sam says, " not Sam said, " ." )
